Second Chances

“Have you ever needed a second chance after blowing it at work? Have you ever needed a do-over after failing the exam. Or how about in relationships? You said or did the wrong things, and you desperately want a second chance to make that relationship work. You see, every one of us, at one time or the other have needed a second chance.

And that is especially true in our relationship with God. We, like Jonah, have blown it. Like Jonah, we run away, and disobey and ignore all of God’s warnings. But hopefully we will be like Jonah in the fish, we repent and return to the Lord. And if that is the case, we get to experience a fresh start with God.”

– Pastor Tony Walliser

“Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time: ‘Get up! Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach the message that I tell you.’ So, Jonah got up and went to Nineveh according to the Lord’s command.”

– Jonah 3:1-3 HCSB

This way to the Stable… to the Manger… to the Child announced by Angels.

This way to the Silent Night… to the new born King… to the Savior of the world.

This way to Immanuel… to God with us.

This way to the baby Jesus… our deliverer, our rescuer.

This way to the baby, whose birth we celebrate at Christmas.

The baby who grew to be a man, but not any ordinary man.

A man who lived a holy, sinless life.

A man who is Son of God and Son of man.

A man who lived and died on a criminal’s cross.

A man who was buried in a borrowed tomb and three days later rose from the dead and lived again.

This way to the baby who grew to be a man who died for our sins so that we might have life, might be forgiven, might one day be with Him in heaven.

This way to the God of Second Chances…

“He redeemed my soul from going down to the Pit, and I will continue to see the light. God certainly does all these things two or three times to a man in order to turn him back from the Pit, so he may shine with the light of life.” – Job 33:28-30 HCSB
