“The Gospel only has the power to save, if you have heard it. The message of the gospel contains the power of God. It changes us.
Much like when Jesus did his ministry. He could go into a town and see a lame man who could not walk. Then Jesus would speak, “Stand up and walk.” And the person believes and rises and walks. This man, just a few minutes earlier could not walk. But when he hears and believes the words of Jesus, he has the power to do what he previously could not do.
That is the power of the Gospel of Christ. It has the power to save. But it only works when people hear it.” – Pastor Tony Walliser
“But how can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who announce the gospel of good things!”
– Romans 10:14-15 HCSB
A few days ago, in the comments on a social media post I had made, the following question was asked:
“Why Do You Share, Write, and Post So Much About Jesus?”
After praying through and contemplating my response… I wrote down these thoughts and thought that it would be appropriate to share with everyone through today’s devotion…
Maybe the first part of the response should be this… “Why Don’t We?”
Why don’t we share, write, and/or post about Jesus? There is a world around us that has not heard, that has not listened, that has just plain ignored the Truth… ignored the Gospel.
They do not know that…
- Heaven and Hell are real.
- Everyone is going to go to one of those two places one day and stay there for eternity.
- Jesus is the Only Way to Heaven (John 14:6)
- Through the blood, the cross, and the resurrection Jesus said, “I Love all of you and don’t want any of you to end up in Hell… separated from God forever.”
- If Jesus loves you, then so do I… Why wouldn’t I share, write, or post about Him and His grace, mercy, forgiveness, and love?
If you have any questions or would like to talk further about Jesus and/or salvation, please reach out to a pastor, a deacon, or a small group leader and begin the conversation.
“The Savior has died. They payment was made. The resurrection secures it. And the Gospel saves. But you’ve got to hear it if you are going to believe in it. The Gospel means good news, but it is only good news if a person hears it.” – Pastor Tony Walliser
