GROW WITH US
We grow through small groups, prayer, shared beliefs and church membership.
Grow in SMALL GROUPS
Small Groups are a limited group of people, typically in the same age range or stage of life that connect with each other and God in fresh new ways.
Grow through PRAYER
At our ‘always open’ prayer wall, you can pray for others or let us know your requests and we can pray for you. We believe in the power of prayer!
Grow through MEMBERSHIP
Everyone who wants to join Silverdale (middle school age and above), we ask that you complete our membership class.
Grow through SHARED BELIEFS
We are bound by essential beliefs about who God is, the Bible, the resurrection, the second coming, the sanctity of human life, salvation and the Gospel. Click on each topic below to learn more.
We believe the Bible is inspired by God and is without errors. We believe in the incarnation of God in Jesus Christ, in the Holy Trinity, in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and that Jesus Christ will come again. We believe in the sanctity of human life, and that all people must be saved from sin. We believe that we must share the gospel message with all people.
Baptism symbolizes that you have accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior, that your old life has been put to death, and that you have new life in Jesus Christ. A baptism is an act of obedience since Jesus instructed us to be baptized, and it also shows others that you have entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Baptism can sometimes seem confusing, but the Bible clearly shows us the method to use. Baptism is a picture of our identification with Christ through His death, burial, and resurrection. The word “baptize” in the New Testament translates to mean “immerse,” “submerge,” or “to place under.” Scripture says that Jesus “came up out of the water” when He was baptized.
At Silverdale, we immerse believers when they are baptized because we believe Scripture shows that Jesus modeled that as the way for us to publicly acknowledge our faith in Him.
What about infant christening? While we recognize the choice of other churches to practice infant christening, we understand Scripture to teach that only professing believers qualify for baptism. Baptism does not make you a believer; rather it shows that you have chosen to believe.
Is Baptism Required For Church Membership? At Silverdale, we require those who have not been baptized by immersion to be baptized. We do not want to question a person’s salvation experience or diminish his or her Christian heritage, but we want to unite our membership in belief and practice.
Becoming A Christian
It’s as simple as ABC.
Admit that you have sinned. The Bible says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
Believe in your heart that Christ died for your sin. “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) “But God commends His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
Confess with your mouth that Jesus is your Savior and Lord.
“If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
We have often been asked where Silverdale stands on particular issues, such as the Prosperity Gospel or relating to our culture. The following statements and/or Question & Answer sessions have been compiled by Pastor Tony and our Pastoral Staff.
